XVME-400和XVME-401四通道串行I/O模块是单高、单宽VMEbus模块,为VMEbus系统提供四个串行通信通道。XVME-400和XVME-401的区别仅在于它们的通信接口:XVME-400提供四个RS-232C串行端口,而XVME-401提供四个RS-422A/RS-485串行端口。两个模块都包含两个Z8530串行通信控制器(SCC)芯片,提供多种通信模式,包括异步、字节同步和面向位的协议。每个通道都可以独立编程,并有自己的波特率发生器和调制解调器信号控制。VMEbus接口直接将Z8530 SCC芯片映射到短I/O地址空间,从跳线选择的1k字节边界开始。

The XVME-400 and XVME-401 four channel serial I/O modules are single height and single width VMEbus modules, providing four serial communication channels for VMEbus systems. The only difference between XVME-400 and XVME-401 is their communication interface: XVME-400 provides four RS-232C serial ports, while XVME-401 provides four RS-422A/RS-485 serial ports. Both modules contain two Z8530 serial communication controller (SCC) chips, providing multiple communication modes including asynchronous, byte synchronous, and bit oriented protocols. Each channel can be independently programmed and has its own baud rate generator and modem signal control. The VMEbus interface directly maps the Z8530 SCC chip to a short I/O address space, starting from the 1k byte boundary selected by the jumper. The module can also jump over and generate interrupts on any of the seven VMEbus interrupt levels. Two Z8530 SCC chips can generate a total of 16 different interrupt vectors. For applications that do not allow I/O to be brought out from the front panel, XVME-490 and XVME-491 provide the same functionality as XVME-400 and XVME-401. In the 6U external specification, I/O is routed through the VMEbus P2 connector on the back of the circuit board
