The NI SCXI-1102 (Part Number: 776572-02, 183087H-01) is a 32-Channel Voltage Input Module that can complete hardware scanning of cold-junction sensors. This module has 2 Hz lowpass filtering for each channel. This module has overvoltage protection to ±42 V, 2 Hz bandwidth, and 333 kS/s maximum sampling rate. Since this module has a 2 Hz bandwidth, after altering the gains, the user must wait about 3 seconds to obtain a precise measurement. The SCXI-1102 Voltage Input Module is ideal for high-accuracy thermocouple measurements. This module can obtain millivolt, volt, 0 to 20 mA, and 4 to 0 mA current input signals. The NI SCXI-1102 module can obtain signals from RTDs as well when the SCXI-1581 delivers excitation.

The SCXI 1102 can be used with the SCXI-1300, SCXI-1303, SCXI-1308, SCXI-1310, TC-2095, TBX-1303, or TBX-96 terminal block. An isothermal terminal block such as the SCXI-1303 is suggested for precise thermocouple measurements. Other items required to operate the NI SCIXI 1102 Voltage Input Module include: an SCXI chassis or PXI/SCXI combination chassis, the SCXI-1600 or E/M Series DAQ Device, a computer (if using an SCXI chassis), cabling, cable adapter, and sensors as needed for the user’s application. Applications can be developed on the device using the NI-DAQmx driver software and other application development environments (ADEs) like LabVIEW, LabWindows/CVI, or Measurement Studio.

The back signal connector on the cabled module is the interface between the DAQ device and the modules in the SCXI chassis. CH 0 is employed to differentially multiplex the 32 channels, the CJ sensor, and analog signals from the modules to the linked DAQ device. If the SCXI-1102 module has a DAQ device linked to it, then the digital lines are not available for general-purpose digital I/O. The NI device is equipped with a 96-pin male DIN C front connector and a 50-pin male ribbon cable rear connector. The DC coupled device weighs 24.6 oz., and measures 1.2 x 6.8 x 8.0 in. in physical dimensions.
