探头的前置器一般提供探头需要的电源，对信号进行放大、检波和滤波等。
电涡流位移传感器的探头线圈接受前置器振荡电路来的高频电流，在其周围产生高频磁场，该磁场穿过靠近它的转轴金属表面，在其中产生一个电涡流，该电涡流产生的磁场方向和线圈磁场方向相反，改变了原线圈的感抗，该感抗的变化随探头顶部金属表面的间隙变化而变化。
前置器检测电路检测探头线圈的感抗变化。再经放大电路将感抗变化量变换放大成相应电压变化信号输出。经监测仪进行转换，根据测量的要求将其输出电压的直流部分用做位移量的检测，交流部分用做振动值的检测。

Eddy current displacement sensors are components of the probe, cable, preprocessor, transmitter is the sensor component.

The probe preprocessor generally provides the power supply needed by the probe to amplify, detect and filter the signal.
The probe coil of the eddy current displacement sensor receives the high-frequency current from the oscillator circuit of the preprocessor and generates a high-frequency magnetic field around it. The magnetic field passes through the metal surface close to the rotating shaft and generates an eddy current in it. The direction of the magnetic field generated by the eddy current is opposite to the direction of the magnetic field of the coil, which changes the inductance of the original coil. The change of the inductance varies with the change of the clearance of the metal surface at the top of the probe.
The preprocessor detection circuit detects changes in the inductance of the probe coil. Then through the amplifier circuit, the induced reactance change is transformed into the corresponding voltage change signal output. The DC part of the output voltage is used to detect the displacement and the AC part is used to detect the vibration value according to the measurement requirements.
