This device easily eliminates the cable length and device load related limitations mandated by the IEEE 488 standard. This GPIB-140A is fully compatible with IEEE 488.1 and IEEE 488.2 standards. According to the IEEE 488 standard, the total length of any GPIB system cannot exceed 20 meters. GPIB extenders can reach a total distance of 1 kilometer without any modification and will not affect the integrity of the user’s GPIB system.

The receiving expander receives serial or parallel signals from the transmitting expander and converts them into IEEE 488 signals.
