The Allen Bradley 1756-L82E is a ControlLogix 5580 controller. This controller is part of the most modern ControlLogix product line, designed specifically to meet today’s industrial requirements for integration and connectivity.
The 1756-L82E is equipped with embedded Ethernet I/P communication ports, supporting fast and Gigabit Ethernet speeds, especially 10/100 Mbps and 1 Gbps transmission rates. This communication port is an ideal choice for connecting to linear factory Ethernet. In addition, it allows for rapid deployment as Ethernet supports the use of commercial Ethernet components as well as industrial grade components to improve reliability. Ethernet ports can be used for all types of communication purposes, such as programming, communication with SCADA and HMI systems, as well as communication with remote I/O and controllers within the same network. In addition, the 1756-L82E is equipped with one USB communication port for standard communication purposes other than industrial communication and data exchange.
The 1756-L82E comes with 5MB of user memory, and the 1784-SD2 comes with 2GB of non-volatile user memory. This controller supports up to 128000 discrete I/Os and 4000 analog I/Os. It does not require the use of batteries to store data in the controller’s random access memory (RAM), as the controller is equipped with a more environmentally friendly energy storage module composed of capacitors, but this energy storage cannot be replaced or removed from the controller.

The 1756-L82E is equipped with a controller type energy storage module that does not require external batteries. It draws 5mA current from the bottom plate at 1.2V DC and 1.2mA current at 5.1V DC. Use basic insulation tested at 1000 volts AC for 60 seconds, providing 50 volt circuit isolation from USB port to Ethernet port, USB port to backplane, and Ethernet port to backplane. The 1756-L82E can support up to 128000 digital I/Os and 4000 analog I/Os. During operation, it emits 6.2W of heat with a maximum heat dissipation of 21.2 BTU/hr. The communication on 1756-L82E is achieved through the built-in USB 2.0 port and the embedded Ethernet port of the controller. It has a 1 GB Ethernet port that supports high-speed communication and integrated motion control, and can support up to 175 nodes. The operating temperature range of 1756-L82E at 5-95% non condensing humidity is 0 ° C to 60 ° C (32 ° F to 140 ° F), and the non operating temperature range is -40 ° C to 85 ° C (-40 ° F to 185 ° F). The rated working impact of 1756-L82E is 30 grams, and it can still maintain its function under working vibration of 10-500 Hz and 2 grams.
