Silicon Controlled Rectifier (SCR), abbreviated as SCR, alias Thyristor, is a high-power semiconductor device with three PN junctions and four layers. Silicon controlled is small in size, simple in structure and strong in function. It can play a variety of roles such as frequency conversion, rectification, inverter and contactless switch. Therefore, it has been applied in various electronic products, such as dimming lamp, camera, radio remote control, combined audio and so on. After the SCR is fully conducted, the Current flowing through the A and K poles is the on-state Current IT (on-state Current). In practical application, VAK is usually an AC voltage (such as 220VAC), so this parameter is often marked as the on-state average Current IT (RMS). Refers to the average value of sinusoidal half-wave Current (in one cycle) of power frequency that the SCR element can continuously pass through. At this time, the Current flowing through G and K poles is the Gate Current IG. The Gate control current shall not exceed the Gate maximum Peak current IGM (Forward Peak Gate Voltage). When VAK is the negative half cycle of AC power supply, the SCR will be blocked due to the reverse Voltage applied to the A and K poles. The large Voltage allowed to be applied at this time is known as the Peak reverse-repeat Voltage VRRM (Peak reverse-blocking Voltage), since the resistance in the SCR blockade is not infinite, The Current in this case is named in reverse-repetitive Peak Current (Peak in reverse-blocking Current). These values are the same as those described previously for IDRM and VDRM, except that IDRM and VDRM are measured with the control G-pole disconnected and SCR blocked, while IRRM and VRRM are measured with the SCR A and K poles connected to the reverse voltage. If the reverse voltage is applied between the anode A and cathode K of the SCR, the SCR is in the reverse blocking state at the beginning, and only A small reverse leakage current flows through. The reverse-leakage current increases sharply when the reverse-voltage increases to a certain value, and the corresponding Voltage is termed the Peak reverse-non-repetitive Surge Voltage (VRSM).
